About sexual assault/domestic violence

Sexual assault and domestic violence are crimes of power, control and anger. They are one person’s attempt to hurt or humiliate another through sex and/or violence.

While we recognize that victims are both female and male, the overwhelming majority of sexual assault and domestic violence victims are female and the perpetrators are male. To understand violence against women and children, we need to acknowledge the use of men’s power (physical, financial, political and status) against victims.
